It is widely thought that the meeting will center around a way forward, following the recently concluded general polls that saw the incumbent president Yoweri Museveni winning with a 58 percent margin against Kyagulanyi who came in second place with 34 percent.

Kyagulanyi through his legal team headed by Medard Ssegona and Anthony Wameli among others dragged to the supreme court  Museveni and the Electoral Commission for non-compliance of the law seeking an order to conduct fresh elections.

They argue that Museveni acted outside the law and fraudulently garnered votes.

Kyagulanyi has also publicly threatened to oust Museveni by May this year after proving that he cheated his way to victory.

On 16th January, the Electoral Commission- EC declared Yoweri Museveni the winner of the election, and on January 28th, 2021, released the final tally of the results showing that the incumbent 6,042,898 votes representing 58.38 percent while Kyagulanyi got 3,631,437 votes representing 35.08 percent.
