On Monday the 15th of Feb 2020 is the day that the army court-martial is set to rule on the bail for 34 suspects who are on remand at the Kitalya and Kigo gov’t prisons.

The suspects who include NUP strongman’s Bobi wine’s confidants singer Ali Buken aka Nubian lee and Edward Ssebufu aka Eddie Mutwe among others were denied bail on Monday last week and further remanded.

The Makindye-based General Court Martial chaired by lt Gen Andrew Gutti only granted a non-cash bail of 20 million to 13 suspects and sent back 34 others.

The army prosecutors led by Capt. Ambrose Guma asked the General Court Martial not to grant bail to Nubian Li, Eddie Mutwe, and 34 others after expressing security fears and said it would be wise to keep them in custody.

The legal counsel to the suspects Anthony Wameli trashed the claims and asked for evidence to prove that point.

Lt Gen Gutti only granted bail to those that needed medical attention after they fulfilled all the requirements and presented sureties under tight conditions.

Among the conditions is, they are not supposed to move outside Wakiso and Kampala districts, Meanwhile,, he sent the rest back to Kitalya prisons until Monday next week when the court gives a ruling.

The prosecution alleges that all the 49 suspects and others still at large on January 3, at Makerere Kavule Kigundu zone, were found in possession of four rounds of ammunition which is a monopoly of the Defense Forces. However, at the time the said offense was committed, most of the suspects were already in Kitalya and Kigo prisons where they had been remanded by Masaka Court in December last
