The National Unity Platform -NUP , strongman  Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has finally bowed to pressure and withdrawn his election petition from the supreme court.

News reaching us now is that the NUP party president has instructed his legal team to withdraw the case after working tooth and nail to collect evidence to support his petition in vain.

Bobi Wine made the announcement during a press conference at the NUP offices in Kamwokya on Monday.

“We have decided to remove our case from Owiny Dollo’s court, we shall now take the matter to the court of public opinion,” Bobi Wine said.

This comes after the Supreme Court is on Friday threw out an application by the NUP former presidential candidate to file an extra 145 additional affidavits to back up his election petition case.

8 out of 9 justices denied additional evidence on grounds they said would be filed in the final judgment.

Prior to that, Bobi wine had threatened to withdraw his case from the supreme court if his demands were not met.

In a presser at his NUP offices, he warned to withdraw from the case if chief Justice Owiny Dollo and 3 other justices don’t recuse themselves from the case, explaining that they are biased and openly in support of the regime.

He mentioned Chief justice -CJ Alphonso Owinyi-Dollo, Ezekiel Muhanguzi, and Mike Chibita as a few among the justices that are biased toward him

He also said he would withdraw his election petition from the Supreme Court if he was denied the chance to present more evidence.

Bobi Wine now says he has no ulterior motives like violence following his withdrawal of the case.

“We are peaceful and we shall not use violence as Museveni did, Just like Museveni sought to challenge the victory of Obote in 1980 and later withdrew the case and chose to go to the bush, we have also sought the same since the circumstances are not any different,” he said.
