President Yoweri Museveni has directed that all flags in Uganda must fly at half-mast until the departed Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli is laid to rest.

The announcement was made on Friday morning by Museveni while extending his condolences to Tanzania.

Museveni says all flags must now fly at half mast until the day Magufuli is buried.

”on behalf of the people of Uganda and of the NRM, I want to extend our condolences to the family of the late Magufuli,the people of Tanzania and the party of CCM,In honor of his contribution,i direct all the flags to fly at half mast until the day of his burial”Mudeveni said.

His announcement comes a day after the Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyanta also declared 7 days of mourning in Kenya for Magufuli.

Uhuru who is also the chair of the East African Community-EAC ordered that all national flags in Kenya and East African flags at all foreign missions fly at half-mast until Magufuli is laid to rest.

Meanwhile Tanzania also declared 14 days of mourning for the fallen president.

According to the government spokesman Hassan Abbas ,public viewing of President Magufuli’s body will be done in the commercial hub of Dar es Salaam, the capital Dodoma, the western town of Mwanza and in his home town of Chato.

”The president’s coffin will also be paraded through major roads”, the government spokesman said.

Condolence books will be distributed countrywide for the public to pay their respects.

The date of his burial will be announced in due time by the new president Hasan Suhulu.
