Express Tops UPL League

Express FC completed a league double over Busoga United FC in style with a 4 – 0 win at the FUFA technical center Njeru.

Winger Godfrey Lwesibawa notched a hat-trick, his first at the club and on-form Erick Kambale scored the fourth.

The hosts started off well dominating the midfield but were unsuccessful in penetrating the final third,  the visitors patiently built up from the back until they broke through in the 21st minute.

Martin Kizza made a run on the right wing and made an attempt at goal but his shot was spilled by Busoga United goalkeeper Nantamu Michael which didn’t go far, finding a well positioned Lwesibawa Godfrey who slotted home to make it 1-0.

Seven minutes later, Lwesibawa was at it again, calmly volleying Martin Kizza’s cross again from the right who had beat a forest of legs to cross the ball, the dominance went on until the break.

After half-time break, Busoga United pushed to get back into the game but Issa Lumu and Murushid Juuko partnered to calm the situation.

In the 53rd minute, Charles Musiige made the run from the center line and just when he looked liked he had run out of options, he passed to an incoming Lwesibawa on the right who controlled the ball and smashed it into the net to complete his hat-trick and make it 3-0.

Forward Erick Kambale didn’t want to be left out of the party, running with the ball on the left flank and turning Busoga United FC defenders inside out before he slotted home to make it 4-0 in the 64th minute.

The win takes the Red Eagles to 55 points at the summit of the table with five games to go. Next up for the Red Eagles is a home game against relegated candidate Kitara FC on Friday 21st May.
