Market Vendor Shot Dead
Kampala Police has revealed that a vendor who was shot at in Kalerwe market has succumbed to his bullet wounds.
George Ssejemba alias M16 was accidentally fired live bullets on Monday morning by security night guards demanding their allowances.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the 5 irate guards had pitched camp at the market protesting non-payment of their wages.
The 5 stormed the office of the market chairman Hajji Abus charged with their firearms and demanded their unpaid salaries while cursing.
Owoyesigyire says when they realized Abus was absent from the office they turned violent prompting the police’s intervention.
He says the angered guards engaged in a fire exchange with police injuring, Ssejemba who was hit by a stray bullet from an officer.
“Those People turned violent and started fighting police officers, that’s why police were forced to use more force, to disperse them and clearing away crowds, but unfortunately one person was caught by a stray bullet, and he died later,”
