The Kamuli woman MP lost the election to her foe Jacob Olanyah and appeared to have mended forces with the appointing authority President Yoweri Museveni.

Rebecca Kadaga even went ahead to accept the cabinet position of 1st deputy prime minister and minister for East African affairs.

Parliament which served diligently has gone ahead to honour her services with a medal.

However, government mouthpiece Ofwono Opondo has had none of it when he went on a national television to dismiss her efforts by claiming she was a deterrence to multi party democracy.

Ofwono was appearing on the NBS TV frontline political show along with Democratic Party President Norbert Mao, NRM Chier Whip Thomas Tayebwa and former opposition chief whip Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda.

Ofwono Opondo blasted: “The last 10 years of Parliament leadership really undermined multiparty democracy, I am glad they are out.”

Ofwono Opondo is among many in NRM who are reported to have wanted the former speaker punished for her diversionary politics in the hours while conducting business.

The current deputy speaker Among, former chief whip Rosemary Nankabirwa, NRM caucus spokeswoman Margaret Muhanga and Peter Ogwang were among several who disagreed with Kadaga on the floor of the house.

Kadaga was a darling of the opposition who hailed her for conducting business in the house without fear or favour.

The former speaker fell out with the party majorly when she denied her former deputy Jacob Olanyah access to steer the house in crucial matters of the house.

Olanyah who was flown abroad for medication, spent the better of his last days of service outside the floor of Parliament.

The pair openly clashed on one the sittings of the house and it sought for the intervention of the party top hierarchy to resolve the matter.

The NEC were boxed into a corner where they had decide between Kadaga and Olanyah who would take the new house.

Kadaga had reportedly rejected the position of the Vice President which she termed as non important while Olanyah had told the party he had a promise which they needed to live up to.

Both insisted it was the speakership or nothing!
