Cranes Defender Extends Stay

Experienced defender Murushid Juuko has renewed his contract at last season’s Uganda Premier League champions Express FC.

The former Vipers’ defender has put pen to paper on a new one-year employment contract at the Wakulukuku based side.

Murushid Juuko was signed by the Red Eagles at the start of last season on a short contract, and went on to have an outstanding season, manning the defense that conceded the least number of goals in league (13)

He featured in 24 league games, scoring once and helping his side to 14 cleansheets.

Juuko has played for Vipers SC, SC Victoria University, Simba SC and Wydad Casablanca , but is most notable while playing for Tanzanian giants Simba SC where he spent five years (2014-2019) winning two league titles, the Tanzania FA Cup and Mapinduzi Cup in over 150 appearances for the club.

He has also been a mainstay in the Cranes team playing at both the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

Express will represent the country at the CAF Champions League after they were declared champions of the 2020/21 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Who is Murushid Jjuuko?

Murushid Juuko born 14 April 1994 is a Ugandan footballer who plays as a centre back for Express FC. Juuko was born in EntebbeWakiso District. He has played club football for Ugandan clubs Bunamwaya and SC Victoria University before moving to Tanzania to play for Simba.

Juuko made his Uganda Cranes debut on 11 July 2014 against Seychelles national team. Uganda national team won 1-0.

Juuko guided the Cranes to their first Africa Cup of Nations finals since 1978. He was part of the team that defeated Comoros 1–0 to qualify for the 2017 finals in Gabon. Having missed the first game against Ghana due to a suspension picked up during qualifiers he played 180 minutes against Egypt and Mali
