Bobi Wine was blocked because of coronavirus-related restrictions for anyone who has been in South Africa from proceeding to the United States until after fourteen days. He was recently in South Africa for Barbie’s birthday.

Robert Kyagulanyi, the National Unity Platform president has been blocked from entering the United States of America (US) due to travel rules related to Coronavirus.

The musician turned politician left Uganda for the US via Qatar, to attend NUP Diaspora events including the Uganda Action Day and Convention that are scheduled for this weekend.

Unfortunately, when the former presidential candidate landed in Doha, Qatar, the authorities noted that he was in South Africa less than two weeks back. Bobi Wine had traveled to South Africa to celebrate wife Barbie’s birthday.

“Apparently, there are still Coronavirus-related restrictions for anyone who has been in South Africa from proceeding to the United States until after fourteen days. Unfortunately, we didn’t detect this earlier. Officials at Entebbe were also unaware of this restriction so they did not advise in it,” He said.

Because of this, Bobi Wine could not proceed to the USA and he, therefore, returned to Uganda.

The good news is that other NUP leaders including Hon. Zaake Francis, Hon. Kayemba Solo and Chairman Nyanzi are already in USA to represent the political party.
