A wicked mother in Hoima City has been thrown into Police custody after locals accused her of poisoning and killing her one year old son.
Twenty year old Erivanesa Kabagire , a resident of Bwikya village in Bombo sub county reportedly laced her baby’s food with a pesticide on November 1,2021. Kabagire mixed a chemical called ambush pesticide and fed it to the toddler. Moments later, the toddler fell unconscious and was rushed by neighbours to Kigorobya health center IV but died on transit.
Neighbours allege that by the time of the gruesome act, Kabagire was having a misunderstanding with the child’s father who she claimed was denying the child and not providing any support.
Stephen Mwijakubi, the area LC1 Chairperson following the child’s death,they immediately informed police who swung into action and arrested the child’s mother.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says police rushed and picked the child’s body that was taken to Hoima City mortuary for postmortem.
The body has now been handed over to the relatives for burial arrangements as the mother is detained at Hoima central police station on murder charges.
