Kambale helped his side collect three significant points against Wakiso Giants on Friday at Wankulukuku

Eric Kambale finished the Uganda Premier League UPL last season as joint top scorer along with Vipers hitman Yunus Ssentamu.

The Express FC frontman has started the season on a quiet note having to wait to get his name on the scoresheet against Wakiso Giants since their titanic fixture against title contenders Vipers SC.

The Wankulukuku outfit know if they are to repeat their title winning season, the Congolese striker who has been nominated to FUFA’s best player award, will have to shoulder some of the heaviest burden.

Kambale and Express FC know it is not going to be an easy season with some of the top teams strengthening in the playing staff and technical areas with seasoned stars.

Ahead of them are KCCA FC who are eight points ahead of them after the seven games played in the UPL league.

KCCA FC under Morley Byekwaso know they did not have a good season after the departure of Mike Mutebi and have gone out heavily into the market to fish out for experience.

They have done well with the arrivals of Brian Majwega from URA, Yasser Mugerwa from Ethiopia, Davis Kasirye from Vipers SC and Wafula Innocent from Vipers SC.

Byekwaso’s side are at the top of the league coming short of two points from the maximum they are supposed to collect in the seven fixtures they have played.

Vipers SC who Kambale scored against have brought in Brazilian tactician Robertinho and have hit the ground running with him.

They are playing attractive football and scoring for fun. Yunus Ssentamu and Congolese Caesar Manzoki, who will be a challenge to the Express FC hitman, are thriving under the Brazilian.

Ssentamu and Manzoki have so far scored four and three goals for Vipers SC this season, respectively.

Steven Mukwala who scored a goal shy Kambale and Ssentamu and URA FC are taking it on from where Sam Ssimbwa left it off from.

They are the only league outfit who have gone to St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende and walked away with all three points.

And their man Mukwala has not stopped scoring from his 14 goals. He bagged four goals in his side’s 6-1 whitewashing of Tooro United in their latest UPL fixture to take his tally to 5 this season.

However, the Express FC star will have to worry himself about the attackers at KCCA FC, Davis Kasirye in particular continues to prove why the club paid a lot of money to secure his services.

Kambale will be afraid with Kasirye’s start for his new club KCCA FC. The lanky KCCA forward has scored four goals and that is a good return with seven games for the club.
