Lwanga brace saved KCCA FC from home shock

Charles Lwanga this week lived up to his word when he signed to join KCCA FC.

Lwanga, who is known among his friends as Neymar then said:”I am happy to be here. I want to score goals and make the fans happy and win trophies with KCCA FC.”

The tricky midfielder had to wait to live up to his revelation. It was until when his club KCCA FC needed somebody of his character to awaken the game from the dead.

UPDF were headed for victory and three points. Shockingly, the soldiers were at the home of the Kampala giants, Phillip Omondi Stadium at Lugogo.

Club officials and the fans knew it was an impossible mission to overturn the game that UPDF led right from the 5th minute when Yiga Frank converted Ahimbisibwe Ivan’s cross.

Charles Lwanga had not even made the team’s starting line up. Morley Byekwaso brought the KCCA FC playmaker in the 67th minute in the place of striker Davis Kasirye.

A brave decision given Kasirye has continued to assert himself strongly in the yellows attack. What a move it turned out to be!

KCCA FC continued to attack and control the game. It was until the 87th minute and it had to be Lwanga.

The midfielder brought in from Vipers SC rose above the UPDF defence to head Herbert Achai’s cross into the right top corner.

Then UPDF defence failed to deal with a Denis Iguma shot into the goal area and guess who was there again!

Lwanga completed the day with a brace and brought down the roof at Lugogo. Players, technical bench and the stands went into a frenzy.

These were the Jackson Mayanja moments at the club and Lwanga has the character to produce such moments for the club.

The midfielder has had a mixed form since signing for the former Uganda Premier League giants but the cameo display when the club were hungry for a goal, was enough to erase talk that he is hot air.

Byekwaso will have to give him more responsibility and hand him playing time to unearth the hidden talent in his boots.

But Lwanga will equally have to shake off the fear in him that is stopping him from producing such display week in and out.

KCCA FC players, technical bench and the supporters will not forget this performance in years. The club is pushing for the league title and have the right to one to do so.
