Eco-bank supports FUFA

Ecobank Managing Director, Grace Muliisa, and Head of Marketing, Brand and Communications Clare Tumwesigye welcomed the FUFA delegation led by 2nd Vice President Darius Mugoye, CEO Edgar Watson and Marketing Director Esther Musoke.

The discussions at Ecobank Head Office in Nakasero hinged on the existing partnership between Ecobank and FUFA that started in 2016. 

Ecobank is the official banking partner of FUFA and Uganda Cranes to the tune of UGX 600M renewed in 2020 for three years. They have been part of the journey that has witnessed a successful story in Uganda football with the return of the Uganda Cranes to AFCON Finals after 39 years of waiting. 

Ecobank also handed over a UGX 10M dummy cheque for their support towards the 2021 Airtel FUFA Awards due this Saturday at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The final shortlist for the Male Player of the year category has been released by the organizing committee.

The list includes Vipers SC duo of Bobosi Byaruhanga and Abdul Aziizi Kayondo plus Express FC talisman Erick Kenzo Kambale.

The Awards gala will be held on Saturday, 4th December 2021 at Speke Resort Munyonyo with winners in the Male and Female categories driving away in brand new cars.

On the launch of the awards last month, the Managing director of Airtel Mr. Manoj announced a Shs.100,000,000 sponsorship package for the sixth year running and he commited the telecommunication’s company pledge to continue supporting football.

The three nominees on the final list of Airtel FUFA awards include;

Abdu Aziizi Kayondo (Vipers SC); He was part of the Uganda U20 team that reached the finals of the 2020 U20 AFCON in Mauritania. Kayondo was named in the best XI of the tournament.

Bobosi Byaruhanga (Vipers SC); Part of the Uganda U20 team that reached the finals of AFCON U20 in Mauritius. Made his debut with the Uganda Cranes this year, in the friendly game against South Africa.

Erick Kenzo Kambale (Express FC); Scored 15 goals last season in the League, just one behind eventual top scorer Yunus Ssentamu. He played a key role as Express FC went ahead to win the StarTimes Uganda Premier League this year, the first for the club in 9 years.
