Mike Mutebi and Mayanja

Former KCCA FC manager Mike Hillary Mutebi and former Uganda Cranes assistant coach Jackson Mayanja are set to take over the vacant head coach role at Rwanda top tier side, AS Kigali.

It has been revealed that the two gaffers have been in negotiations to see that they reach a final agreement.

Mike Mutebi has been jobless since March last year when he parted ways with the Kasasiro Boys and the deal comes at a time when he is readily available for any new challenge.

Likewise, the former Cranes tactician has also been jobless after leaving his job at Kyetume fc where he first worked as a technical director before he turned into their coach.

Last year, reports had it that the former KCCA FC manager was being linked to a number of clubs both locally and outside Uganda. Vipers almost acquired his services though the deal never materialized. Tanzania’s Azam fc were at one time interested in his services but all never went through.

Adding to the long list of Mutebi’s admirers was Kiyovu FC, another club in Rwanda that almost finalised a deal to land the gaffer in May last year.

However, the deal hit a dead end at the last hour after both parties failed to agree on certain terms of his employment contract.

Currently this season, AS Kigali are in 4th position with 20 points after 12 games, five below current leaders Kiyovu Sports.

AS Kigali have so far collected 23 points from the 13 games played in the league and will next host APR who are the league leaders in their next game set to be played on January 22 this weekend.
