Brentford are battling the drop as eight points separate them from the bottom three. Thomas Frank’s team is coming off of a 2-1 away loss to Leicester City. Brentford have played more games than the teams below them and they cannot afford to drop more points.

Tuchel’s team claimed a 1-0 win against Brentford when the teams played the reverse fixture in the league. Ben Chilwell scored the league’s only goal on 45 minutes. Edouard Mendy put in a man of the match performance and kept Chelsea on top as Brentford peppered the Chelsea goal.

Chelsea won the teams’ League Cup match 2-0. Brentford played well but Chelsea won thanks to an own goal in the 80th minute and a penalty in the 85th minute.

Tuchel could be without up to six players. Chilwell is ruled out of the match due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James are nearing returns from injuries. Both could make the team.

Andreas Christensen, Saul Niguez, and Kepa Arrizabalaga are doubts to play the game. Both Niguez and Arrizabalaga tested positive for COVID-19.

 

Brentford manager Frank won’t have Joshua Dasilva available due to a suspension. Julian Jeanvier has a knee injury and is ruled out of the game. Saman Ghoddas is a major doubt following a positive COVID-19 test.

Chelsea went unbeaten in their last six home matches. Their last two home games ended as wins. Brentford lost five of their last six away games. The Bees should suffer another loss on the road as Chelsea pick up a home win.
