First announced as the Pearl of Africa Festival or Uganda at 60 Festival, a few months back, the arts, culture, and food do now have an official name in Afropalooza Festival.

Slated to make its debut on October 7, all through to October 9, a commemoration of Uganda’s Independence, the festival seeks to become Africa’s biggest celebration of various art forms and culture.

The festival will take place at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Kampala.

In a press statement released by Talent Africa, the first line-up of artists to perform at the festival is out and will be headlined by Nigerian star Rema. Looks like we are yet to have enough of these Nigerians, aren’t we?

Other performers on the list include Maddox Ssematimba, Ragga Dee, Cindy, Spice Diana, Beenie Gunter, Sandra Nansambu, Patrick Salvador, Navio, The Mith, and DJ Zato.

To mark Uganda’s 60 years of independence, the festival will have 60 performers on stage, over the three days.

Each day will showcase art that depicts a different, unique story of Uganda’s musical journey.

As music and comedy entertain partygoers, the festival also promises various foods from different cultures for you to devour, as well as cultural artifacts, clothes, and crafts for you to either simply gaze at or buy.

According to its organizers, the Afropalooza seeks to feature a carnival-like celebration, with various party lovers from across the world expected to throng in – hence boosting not just the economy, but tourism as well.

To crown October 9, Talent Africa promises the most fascinating display of fireworks Uganda has ever witnessed. Is America’s 4th of July about to have another challenger? Who knows?
