Police in Soroti is hunting for a jealous lover accused of killing his girlfriend in a bar brawl on Tuesday night.
Peter Lokeinon, 28, murdered Florence Ileng, 25, and later dumped her body in a pit latrine on Wednesday morning. The couple are both residents of Nakatunya ward in Soroti City West Division.
Paul Opige, the Local Council Chairperson of Wire Cell says that the suspect approached him the previous evening requesting that he sits them down to discuss their domestic issues and that he had scheduled to hear their grievances Wednesday morning.
Oscar Greg Ageca, the East Kyoga Police Spokesperson, says that preliminary information shows that the couple picked up a quarrel while drinking at a local joint and were only separated by onlookers.
He explains that after being separated, the two relocated to another bar to enjoy music and dance but the deceased decided to dance with another man, which infuriated the suspect.
According to Ogeca, the suspect reached out, grabbed the deceased, and dragged her behind a pit latrine where he hit her with a stone on the head, to death.
