Liverpool expected to ease

Liverpool will be looking to kick-start their 2022/23 Premier League campaign when they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield.

On the opening weekend, Jurgen Klopp’s side were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage despite dominating large spells of the game.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Arsenal in their first game of the season. Liverpool came from behind on two occasions to rescue a draw against Fulham. Aleksandar Mitrovic bagged a brace, but goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah saw Klopp’s side snatch a point.

Liverpool lost just two of their 38 Premier League games last season, finishing a solitary point behind Manchester City. They also achieved the joint-best defensive record in the division.

Not only have Klopp’s side avoided defeat in each of their last 20 league outings, but they have also avoided defeat in 27 of their previous 28.

Despite showing glimpses of promise against the Gunners, the Eagles failed to recover from Gabriel Martinelli’s first-half striker before Marc Guehi scored a late own goal.

Patrick Vieira’s men won just 11 of their 38 Premier League games last season. As a result, they finished twelfth 44 points behind second-place Liverpool.

On a brighter note, Palace were the only team in the bottom 12 to finish the previous campaign with a positive goal difference.

Head-to-head: Liverpool have won each of their previous ten Premier League meetings with Crystal Palace, keeping six clean sheets in that time.
