The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has exercised his mandate and made changes and appointments in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

The transfers and appointments are included in a document released on Thursday by the UPDF Spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye.

Among them is the reappointment of former UPDF Spokesperson Col. Deo Akiiki. He replaces Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu who was appointed to that position in June last year.

Col. Akiiki was pursuing a one-year course to which he graduated from in July at the Senior Command and Staff College (SCSC), Kimaka in Jinja City. Col Akiiki was Deputy Army Spokesperson from March 2017 when he was appointed to June 2021.

Meanwhile, Lt Col Kakurungu has been posted as the Deputy Director for Strategic Communications.

Col Allan Matsiko has been appointed Director in the Special Forces Command and will be deputised by Lt Col Duncan R Kafeero at the SFC.

Also, Maj Gen. George Igumba, who has been the UPDF chief of personnel and administration is appointed Commandant of the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka.
