Dropping albums has become usual in the Ugandan music industry in the past year.

With many claiming it’s the best way to push the industry forward, some believe it’s just a bandwagon effect that has no future.

Gravity Omutujju is one of those artists who believe that albums in Uganda have a poor return on investment.

Gravity Omutujju claims most of the songs on the album vanish into the air. “I am not going to drop any music album. In Uganda, music albums choke and flop. Whoever releases a music album, what do they get in return? Most of their songs just vanish into thin air. Here in Uganda, we haven’t yet reached the level of releasing albums. However, I can’t judge, maybe there is a way they earn out of them. But personally, I know what my fans want,” Gravity said.

In the past two years, Eddy Kenzo, Karole Kasita, and Azawi have dropped albums with others like Jose Chameleone, Fik Fameica, and Vyper Ranking in the pipeline.
