Bayern Munich and Barcelona

Bayern Munich and Barcelona will both be looking to take control of Group C when they go head-to-head in the UEFA Champions League.

The Matchday 2 showdown will take place at Bayern’s Allianz Arena, with both European giants aiming to build on impressive wins last week.

Barcelona thrashed Viktoria Plzen 5-1 on Matchday 1, while Bayern claimed a 2-0 victory at Inter Milan. Although the German champions have yet to taste defeat this season, they have drawn each of their previous three Bundesliga games.

It is worth noting, however, that Bayern have scored 19 goals in six Bundesliga outings this season conceding just five times in the process.

As for Barca, they thrashed Cadiz 4-0 at the weekend with second-half goals from Frenkie de Jong, Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele.

Having netted a hat-trick in Barca’s 5-1 thrashing of Viktoria Plzen, Lewandowski has now scored nine goals in six games since moving from Bayern.

Better still, Xavi’s side have conceded a solitary goal in five La Liga games this term picking up four wins and one draw in the process.

Head-to-head: Bayern and Barca have faced each other on 11 occasions in the Champions League. Bayern have claimed eight wins, while Barca have claimed two.

The Germans claimed two 3-0 victories over the Spaniards last season, meaning they have won each of the past four meetings.

Team news: Bayern will be without Kingsley Coman on Tuesday, as the French winger continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

On the flip side, Barcelona will be without Sergi Roberto. It goes without saying that Lewandowski will be eager to lead the line against his former club.
