Nabweru Grade One Magistrate’s Court has on Friday fined 4.8 million shillings to a guardian of a Senior four candidate nabbed in examination malpractice.
Nalwadda Amina an Aunt and guardian to Namuwonge Hudah, a candidate of Kawempe Standard S.S. is accused of hiring a senior three student at Janan Luwum secondary school in Kabalagala Makindye Division to do the final exams for her.

Nalwadda connived with the head teacher Kawempe Standard S.S identified as Hamara Moses to register both learners as candidates with independent index numbers. The malpractice was realized on Monday October 17, during the mathematics paper one where both candidates switched index numbers.
Nalwadda pleaded guilty of aiding impersonation, as a form of examinations malpractice.

Grade One Magistrate, Her Worship Mukasa Sanyu, sentenced Nalwadda to fine of 4.8Mln shillings or a custodial sentence of 1 year. Her Worship Mukasa said the reduced sentence was based on the fact that the accused is a 1st time offender, and did not waste court’s time, when she pleaded guilty of the offence.
Her co-accused, Hamala Moses, the Head Teacher of Kawempe SS, where the malpractice occurred, was released on a none cash bail of 5 million Shillings till 7th November, 2022.
The other suspect, Kigozi Godfrey, who provided the student for impersonation, is still on the run. Police is tracking him down.
The candidates will be tried in a juvenile court since they are minors. In the meantime, they are being allowed to write their examinations.
Under the UNEB Act 2021, impersonation attracts a fine of twenty million shillings or a term of imprisonment not exceeding 5 years, or both.
