Comedian Dickson Lubega alias Madrat of the famous comedy duo Madrat and Chico converted to Islam over the weekend In Zanzibar.

A video was shared by an Islamic media organization to prove his conversion to the new Faith.

In the video, Madrat in the presence of friends and family said the declaration of Faith popularly known as Shahadah before revealing what prompted his decision to join Islam.

According to Madrat, Muslims have been there for him through thick and thin, giving an example of one Juma, whom he says took over the parental responsibilities when he lost his parents “He unconditionally raised me without forcing me to convert,” he said. The comedian joins Hassan alias Geosteady and Luqman alias Vincent Ssegawa among other celebrities to have switched Faith.

Madrat’s Muslim name has not yet been revealed.
