The Vice President Retired Major Jessica Alupo has assured Ugandans that President Yoweri Museveni is the NRM flag bearer in the 2026 polls.
Alupo was speaking during celebrations to mark thirty-five years of Entebbe Church of Uganda Archdeaconry Sunday.
She explained that the distinct leadership of President Museveni has driven the country into development in infrastructure power, and ICT industries and the public should offer him support him to complete unfinished projects.
“From your faces and body language I can see you are ready to give him more time in State House … Pulesident Museveni ajja kuba naffe mu 2026. Nsaba mumwagire nga bwe mubadde mukola ebbanga lyonna. So now there is no one who will say that the message was not shared. It is now here, let’s examine it and because of all those programs that are not complete, let’s support the President.” Alupo said
This development comes at a time when the first son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has openly declared interest in taking over from the father, come 2026. Muhoozi told the NRM , the ruling party chaired by his father that what the country needs is a representative of the younger people.
Museveni will be making forty years in power in 2026, having taken over power in 1986 following a protracted five-year bush war.
