7-year-old pupil dies after car rams into perimeter wall fence at school

Police in Kamuli-C, Kireka, Kira Municipality in Wakiso district have arrested a driver of a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number UAZ 896J, that rammed into a perimeter wall fence at a school, killing one pupil.

The deceased has been identified as Nakafero Robinah, 7; a pupil at Candy Kids Nursery and Primary School in Kamuli-Kireka.

According to police, the incident happened on Thursday at 7:10 am while the deceased, a primary two pupil was standing at the fence, awaiting morning parade.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson says driver of the truck knocked the wall fence, killing the minor on spot. He says the deceased has been taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem examination.

He says the vehicle was towed to Kira Police station as investigations commence. He has urged the public to exercise caution on the roads and to prioritize the safety of themselves and others.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Robina, and we share in their grief during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with the entire Candy Kids school community, who have been deeply affected by this tragic event,” he says.
