President Yoweri Museveni has ordered his State house controller to give out a contribution of Shs 5 million to the grieving families of each of deceased students following a fatal at Kasaka SS in Gombe district. The incident happened on 14th.March, 2023 when a Sino truck registration number UBL 790J veered off its main course and rammed into the school fence, proceeding through to the school computer Lab that was occupied by students, and killed three students on spot and injured others.

Speaking at the Kololo Ceremonial grounds on Thursday, President Museveni sympathized with the bereaved families and asked the legislators to observe a moment of silence for the four students in addition to remembering Ugandans lost to Ebola, Covid and landslides.

The President then tasked the State House comptroller to give UGX 5 million to the families of each of the Kasaka Secondary School students killed in the crash and UGX 1 million to each of the injured students in Gombe Hospital.

He further directed the Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka to meet all the affected families and ensure they are compensated by the fuso truck owners in accordance with the law.

Among the deceased include; Eve Namagembe (Senior Five), Hilda Asege (Senior Four), John Bosco (Senior Two) and John Bosco (Senior Two) who died upon arrival in hospital.

Kasaka SS has since closed temporarily until Monday next week to allow both learners and teachers recover from the shock.
