Viewers on DStv and GOtv can look forward to seeing one of Africa’s rising stars, Zimbabwean attacker Tino Kadewere, in La Liga action this coming weekend.

DStv and GOtv is the only true home of football in Africa, offering a range and depth of action that no other rival can match – it’s literally ‘Unbeatable Football’! If you’re going to spend your money on something, it may as well be on the best football in the world.

Kadewere recently made history by scoring, on full debut, the opening goal for Mallorca in a 4-2 home win over Villarreal. In the process, the 27-year-old became the first Zimbabwean to register a goal in La Liga history.

“I’m very happy, I’ve been waiting a long time for this,” said Kadewere. “It came at a good time, because we got the three points.”

The goal came in his first ever start for the club in LaLiga. After five substitute appearances, he made the most of his opportunity to latch on to an assist from teammate Vedat Muriqi, making history in the process.

“Kadewere did what we asked him to do all match, to stay near to Muriqi always,” said coach  Javier Aguirre. “He’s got an eye for goal and great timing in the air.”

The Mexican is giving the Zimbabwean a more central role as the season progresses, after a slow start to life in Spain: “Football in Spain is harder and more contact-based than what he’s used to. Through training and video analysis we’re finding a way to get the best out of Kade.”

Hailing from Highfield in Harare, Kadewere played junior football with Prince Edward School and Harare City, before securing a move to Swedish side Djurgardens IF in 2015 after a successful trial. He spent three years with DIF before joining French sides Le Havre (2018) and Olympique Lyon (2020). In August 2022 he signed with Mallorca on a loan deal with an option for the La Liga team to sign him permanently at the end of the 2022-23 season.

On the international front, Kadewere has 19 caps and three goals for the Zimbabwean senior men’s national team, and was part of their squads for the 2017, 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

Kadewere will hope to find the back of the net again for Mallorca, as they face Real Betis at Estadio Benito Villamarin on the afternoon of Sunday 19 March, a La Liga match you can see LIVE on SuperSport La Liga, SuperSport Maximo 3 and SuperSport GOtv La Liga.
