Female opium dealer in Wakiso

Police in Wakiso have on Friday busted a 36- year-old woman accused of dealing in narcotics at her residence in Ganda Nasere, Kyebando parish in Wakiso district.

The suspect identified as Mukachuma Christine who operates a business dealing in cultural items was arrested at her shop during an intelligence led operation carried out by police detectives.

Mukachuma’s 40 days of luck came to an end when her customers, also serial criminals who were nabbed on March 15, 2023, with opium and mirungi in their possession, revealed to police the source of the illicit drugs.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson says police conducted a search at Mukachuma’s residence, recovered 26 bundles of opium and three full green polythene bags (green kavera) of the same substance.

Onyango told Galaxy Fm reporter Minah Nalule that the suspect was made known to them by one serial criminal identified as Kivumbi Joel, an opium seller. Kivumbi smoked out Mukachuma, revealing to police in Nansana that he also buys the opium another dealer in Gganda.

“The suspect together with the recovered items were taken to Nansana Police Station for further investigations.” says Onyango

He explains that Kivumbi is one of a gang of 14 criminals who were arrested on March 15, 2023 for terrorizing and robbing from locals in the areas Bump, Kibrocker stretching to Kyenabweru in Nansana. The group that was found with opium was charged of being in possession of narcotic drugs.

Onyango says also among those arrested are two fugitives well known for snatching bags and phones in Kibrocker, they have been identified as Musisi Hassan and Wasswa Hussein.

“On 15 Mar 23 at around 2017 hours, a team of officers from Nansana Police Station together with intelligence team surrounded the areas of Bump, Kibrocker stretching to Kyenabweru targeting wrong elements in Nansana Police Division. The suspects are likely to appear in court next week.” he adds

Among other the suspects include; Male Lawrence, Muwawu Henry, Ssebulime Alex, Kayende Shafic, Kigundu Ramathan, Abuneri Karim, Amande saviour, Muhammed swalik, Tumusiime Micheal, Luyinda Isma and Hakizimana Ivan.
