How machete-wielding thugs stole property worth 9 million shillings from ASP Nampiima‘s residence

The Uganda police are hunting for thugs who attacked and robbed from the Traffic police spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Faridah Nampiima items worth over 9 million shillings.

Among items stolen include; a Samsung phone, an IPhone, Flat screen Television, a handbag containing money amounting to Shs300,000, among others.

Police first confirmed the incident on Sunday indicating that unknown goons raided Nampiima’s residence in Asimbwa zone, Kabowa Parish in Rubaga Division in Kampala District killed the security guard and went off with various items.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire told journalists on Monday that a security guard Matia Kintu Ssalongo was hit with a blunt object on the head and succumbed to his injuries.

Kintu was pronounced dead at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he was referred to with severe injuries.

“It is alleged that assailants who were in company of a dog and armed with pangas (machetes) scaled over a fence that was housing the premises of Kasato Estates that has three houses. One of the houses they targeted was for ASP Nampiima,” Owoyesigire said.

He says home people first heard screams outside , prompting them to check to establish what was happening. He adds that in the process, the thugs armed with clubs and pangas forced their way into the house.

They beat up ASP Nampiima and the husband while demanding for money. Owoyesigyire says the couple is out of danger.
