A former crime preventer has committed suicide after killing his wife in Kabale district.
Robert Turyahikayo, a resident of Mwendo village, Nyanja parish, Maziba sub-county killed his wife Adrin Mugabirwe,47, on Friday after developing a misunderstanding.
Mugabirwe accused Turyahikayo of marrying a second wife a few months ago. During the fight, Turyahikayo picked a hoe and hit Mugabirwe in the head. Mugabirwe died instantly.
After hacking the wife, Turyahikayo rushed to his second wife Judith Natukunda’s home in the neighborhood where he drank poison.
Elly Maate, Police Spokesperson for Kigezi region confirms the incident saying that the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Kabale Regional referral hospital mortuary for post-mortem as investigations into the matter continue.
The case is registered at Kabale police station under file number SD 71/08/12/2023.
