Corporal Andebo Collins, a now deceased bodyguard to a prominent minister, has been implicated in a devastating crime.

The soldier, attached to Makindye Military Police, fatally shot his wife, Atulinda Peroni, before ending his own life in a gruesome act witnessed on Tuesday morning.

Andebo reportedly fled his duty station at Hon. Kibuule’s residence as early as 7:00am to meet Atulinda at Lutaka, Makindye, who was also fleeing to an unknown destination.

Eyewitnesses report that Andebo, armed with an AK-47 rifle and disguised in civilian clothing, ambushed Atulinda as she attempted to board a motorcycle. Without hesitation, he fired at her, causing fatal wounds. But the horror didn’t end there in a tragic twist, Andebo turned the weapon to his mouth, ending both their lives moments later.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, the incident happened amidst domestic quarrel between the couple. Despite their separation and attempts to move on from their troubled past, their relationship ended in a violent confrontation at Lutaka, Makindye division.

He says Atulinda, a fellow staff member at Makindye Military Police, succumbed to her injuries at Nsambya Hospital, while Andebo was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mulago Hospital’s casualty ward. Both victims were transported to the hospital by military police officers who responded to a distressing call from concerned locals.

Owoyesigyire confirms that investigations are ongoing, with statements from witnesses shedding light on the circumstances surrounding this senseless tragedy.

Atulinda’s body awaits a postmortem examination at City Mortuary Mulago.
