Uganda National Basketball League (NBL) side JT Jaguars has landed a mega sponsorship deal with Goldmine Financial Limited, a leading financial institution.

The five year deal worth 500m per year was announced on Thursday, May 9 at Golden Tulip Hotel in Kampala.

At an unveiling dinner held at Golden Tulip hotel Kampala, guest of honor state minister for sports Hon Peter Ogwang, national council of sports chairman Ambrose Tashobya, FUBA vice-president in charge of administration Hudson Ssegamwenge were among the invited guests who witnessed the significant agreement.

The development left JT Jaguars founder and president Dr. JT Nyangenya on cloud nine: “We would like to express our gratitude to Goldmine Finance for their financial support as well as for giving us the chance to mentor the members beyond the sponsorship.”

Allan Tayebwa, the Managing Director at Goldmine Finance reaffirmed their dedication towards the objectives of the sponsorship package

“Our dedication to the objectives of corporate social investment is shown in this sponsorship. We recognize and value sports as a unifying force and a major source of passion for our generation. We think the team has great potential and their will to succeed at any cost motivated us to think of taking this road with them and making it worthwhile.” Our plans for the team are broad but today is the first step towards future achievements. Said Tayebwa.

The sponsorship package will take care of the wellbeing and purchasing sports gear for both the men and women’s squads in the local and continental competitions.

In his remarks, Minisiter Ogwang commended private sector companies that have invested in sports saying, “Sports is a driver of multinational businesses through such partnerships, adverts and direct funding. Basketball is one of the most desired sports with huge corporate crowds and I commend Goldmine finance for choosing the right sport.”
