The High Court heard critical testimony on Monday as a government cyber-forensics officer admitted serious uncertainties in a CCTV analysis presented in the murder case against Molly Katanga.
Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Odongo, a tech officer attached to the Police ICT unit, testified that the security system at the Katanga residence mysteriously stopped functioning around 7:45 a.m., on the morning of the alleged shooting.
By the time the system resumed, Katanga had already left the premises, and there was no visual record of her exit. Police road surveillance later caught a vehicle at Kinawataka and near IHK hospital, where she was reportedly admitted. However, Odongo was unable to visually verify Molly as the occupant.

Under tough questioning from defense attorneys, Odongo admitted he could not prove any deliberate interference with the CCTV, nor confirm whether external factors like power failure played a role. When asked about his report describing staircase activity, he failed to clarify whether the staircase was even in the camera’s field of view.
The prosecution maintains that Molly Katanga and others are responsible for the death of prominent businessman Henry Katanga, found with a gunshot wound at their Kampala home. The case continues to draw national attention due to the couple’s social status and the gaps now emerging in the investigation.
