Security guard shot dead after opening fire on colleagues in Mbuya

Police have launched an investigation into a fatal shooting at Ultimate Security Company in Mbuya that left three individuals dead, including the alleged shooter.

Authorities have identified the victims as Noella Zella, who served as an Assistant Human Resource Officer, Bwampata Salez, the company’s Armory Officer, and the suspect Mwaawa Richard, a security guard employed by the same firm.

Preliminary reports suggest that at around 9:00 AM, Mwaawa entered the company premises and shot Noella before targeting Bwampata. Police officers from Jinja Road Police Station responded quickly to the active shooter situation and engaged the suspect, resulting in his death during the operation to subdue him.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said the firearm used in the incident has been secured and will undergo forensic analysis.

“This is a deeply regrettable and tragic event. At present, the motive behind the suspect’s actions is still unknown, but our investigators are pursuing all leads.”Owoyesigyire said

The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to City Mortuary Mulago for autopsies as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Police have called for calm as detectives continue to piece together the sequence of events that led to the deadly shooting.
