Boda Boda Rider defiles 15 -year- old
The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 35-year-old boda boda rider to Luzira Prison over allegations of defilement involving a 15-year-old girl.
The suspect, David Muwanguzi, a resident of Kyebando in Kawempe Division, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi on Tuesday and charged with defilement, an offence under Section 129 of the Penal Code Act.
Prosecution, led by State Attorney Ivan Kyazze, told the court that Muwanguzi committed the offence on July 4, 2025, at around 3:00 p.m. in Kyebando Kisalosalo, where he is alleged to have performed a sexual act with a minor.
The court heard that following the incident, the victim, who is under the care of a guardian after losing both her parents reported the matter to police. A medical examination was conducted using Police Form 3A, and statements were obtained from the girl’s guardian and neighbors. Investigators also documented the crime scene through a sketch plan and photographic evidence.
Muwanguzi denied the charge. However, when asked whether he had sureties to support his bail application, he replied that he had not secured any. As a result, Magistrate Kayizzi remanded him to Luzira Prison until July 28, when he is expected to return for mention of the case.
“In the absence of your sureties in court, you are hereby remanded,” the magistrate ruled.

In a separate but related matter, the same court also charged a 17-year-old male with defilement of a 14-year-old girl, allegedly committed on July 5, 2025. The juvenile denied the charge and was remanded to Naguru Remand Home pending a bail hearing set for July 21.
Defilement remains a serious offence under Ugandan law, carrying a maximum sentence of life imprisonment upon conviction. The law defines defilement as a sexual act with any person below the age of 18, regardless of consent.
