Private Security Guard Arrested
Police in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which a Boda Boda rider yet to be identified died was killed outside Equatorial shopping mall on Monday evening.
According to the Kampala deputy metropolitan mouthpiece Luke Owoyesigirye the Boda rider was gunned down by a security guard attached to the pinnacle security company at about 6:30 pm.
He adds that the security guard identified as Morris Opedunu, refused him to park in front of the bank premises for one of the banks he was guarding.
Witnesses at the scene claim trouble started when opedunu ordered the Boda rider not to park at the spot in front of the bank premises.
The Boda man declined to listen and instead started insulting Opedunu, prompting him to fire live bullets.
Owesigirye says a group of angry Boda Bodas stormed the scene and grabbed the deceased’s body in an effort to rush him to hospital but he was already dead.
Private Security Guard Arrested
Police fired teargas to disperse angry Boda Boda riders who were blocking the police from taking the body to the City Mortuary at Mulago.
However, the boda boda riders overpowered the police and carried the body before later dumping it off the body at Gaz Petrol station in Kanyanya.
Police picked up the body and took it to city mortuary Mulago for a Postmortem.
Owoyesigirye says Opedunu was arrested and the gun he used captured with 4 rounds of ammunition and one cartridge at the scene.
Opedunu is currently detained at Central Police Station-CPS on charges of murder.
