Vipers to defend Stanbic Uganda Cup
Vipers SC, the defending champions of the Stanbic Uganda Cup will face Wakiso Giants in the quarterfinals of the 48th edition of the tournament.
The teams were selected in a random draw held at FUFA House in Mengo by FUFA Exco member Rogers Mulindwa, FUFA Professional League manager, Shawn Mubiru and former Uganda Cranes player, Paul Mukatabala.
The last edition’s runners-up BUL FC will battle SC Villa, Mbarara City will face Mbale Heroes while Maroons will face regional outfits Booma FC. All games will be played from April 23rd to 27th, 2022.
Mulindwa congratulated the teams that reached the quarter-finals and applauded the massive competition in the tournament that saw some regional clubs storming into the quarter-finals of competition.

FUFA Professional League manager, Shawn Mubiru said all teams hosting games in the quarter-finals will have to use stadiums that have an all-green playing surface as the basic requirement.
Unlike last year, this year’s edition started in the preliminary round with over 250 Clubs from Uganda Premier League, FUFA Big League Clubs, and Regional (third division) and fourth division clubs taking part.

The competition is played annually by all member clubs of the Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA and is open to all non-league clubs, clubs in the two top leagues and registered clubs playing in all the five football divisions registered by FUFA.
