Uganda Premier League champions Vipers Sports Club have re-signed right back Ashiraf Mandela as their latest signing this window from 2010-11 Champions Uganda Revenue Authority football Club.
The defender has been unveiled in a brief video posted on the club’s twitter handle. He returns to St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende having left in 2018 upon his own request as a player.
According to the Vipers official website, Mandela returns to the Venoms for the second stint after his initial spell between 2015-2017. It’s worth mentioning that Mandela is also a St Mary’s Secondary School, Kitende graduate where he featured till 2015.
The St Mary’s Boarding School- Kitende graduate was elevated to the senior team set-up under coach Abdallah Mubiru in 2015-2016 season alongside Geoffrey Wasswa, Bashir Mutanda, Pius Wangi and Joseph Semujju.
“You know l call it a palace because it’s number one in East Africa and moreover, we are chasing to be number one in Africa. I call this a come back because l was once here, left and now am back here.”
“I was here as a boy and now, l come back as a man ready to compete. This is a place where my dream started and l want it to continue here,” Mandela says as quoted by the Vipers media department.
However, he was let go by Portuguese George Miguel Duarte Dacosta before he joined Sports Club Villa and later Uganda Revenue Authority (URA FC).
Mandela’s return to the Venoms is a huge boost as the club prepares for it’s participation in next season’s CAF Champions League and other domestic competitions.
Ashraf Mandela becomes the Venom’s fifth signing after Isa Mubiru, Marvin Joseph Youngman, Olivier Omadjondo Osomba and goalkeeper Alfred Macumu Mudekereza.

At Vipers, he is to become the fifth signing after left back Isa Mubiru, midfielder Joseph Marvin Youngman as well as Congolese duo in midfielder Olivier Osomba and goalkeeper Alfred Macumu.
His direct competitor at right back is youngster Emmanuel Munoobi.
Meanwhile, SK13 Sports has been reliably informed that the Venoms have started negations to renew contract of right back Willa Paul.
