Two killed in fight for sex

Two people have been confirmed dead following disagreement over sex.

Kampala Metropolitan Police say that the territorial police at Old Kampala are investigating a murder of Viola Namayanja by Juma Kintu ,25 , a casual labourer and a resident of Kawala central.

It is alleged that at about 10pm on Friday, Namayanja and Kintu booked into one of the rooms at Light Bar and Lodges located in Bukesa Parish, Kampala Central, Kampala City.

While in the room, it is alleged that they developed a disagreement leading to the stabbing of Namayanja several times.

The suspect Kintu fled the premises naked but was intercepted by a security guard who was on guard at Bam Petrol Station.

It is alleged that the suspect tried to disarm the security guard. During the scuffle, the security guard discharged bullets, which hit the suspect in the thigh.

The suspect was subdued and arrested, KMP says.

According to the KMP, Police was informed about the incident and responded.

“Officers took the suspect Kintu to Mulago National Referral Hospital for treatment as investigations continued. Namayanja was also taken to the same hospital for treatment, but was announced dead later. We have also received information today in the afternoon that the Suspect Kintu later succumbed to the Bullet injuries,” Deputy KMP Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says.

He adds that several eyewitness statements have been recorded.

“The territorial Police at Kampala Metropolitan would like to reiterate that bar and lodge owners should at all times make sure that their customers don’t access their premises with deadly weapons,” Owoyesigyire said.

The two bodies of the deceased persons were all conveyed to City Mortuary for a postmortem.

The security guard in question has also recorded his statement and the gun exhibited, Owoyesigyire added.
