The first live regular season action from the NBA this weekend arrives on the morning of Friday 16 December, as the Los Angeles Clippers take on the Phoenix Suns (05:30 LIVE on ESPN).

Clippers coach Ty Lue is hoping Norman Powell can bring back the form that saw him light up the court against his former team, the Portland Trail Blazers.

“When you get traded from somewhere you want to play well against them, I thought he was a little too excited in the first half,” Lue said of Powell. “We’re always going to stay with our guys and he had 24 points in the second half, really attacking the basket, getting to the paint, getting to the free-throw line. He’s been playing great for about the last three-four weeks.”

Saturday 17 December brings more action from the ‘City of Angels’, as the LA Lakers host the Denver Nuggets early in the morning (05:00 LIVE on ESPN 2), before the Clippers are back in action late in the evening against the Washington Wizards (23:00 LIVE on ESPN).

The combination of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic promises to make the Nuggets a tough proposition for the Lakers: “I think it’s just me getting back to form,” Murray said on his improving two-man game with Jokic as Murray regains confidence following knee surgery. “He’s been waiting on me to back cut or screen for him. From the first game to now, you guys have seen the improvement.”

Sunday 18 December brings action from the Eastern Conference in the evening, as the Boston Celtics welcome Orlando Magic to the iconic TD Garden (22:00 LIVE on ESPN 2).

The Celtics recently racked up an impressive win over the Brooklyn Nets, earning praise from star opponent players Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

“I mean, they’re a good team and when you’re making costly mistakes, especially down the stretch, it’s going to affect you,” Irving said. “It’s going to have an impact on the game, the flow.”

Durant added, “They’re a big team, they shoot the ball well, they’ve got good length. So you’ve got to match that if you want to be able to compete.”
