A mob in Fort Portal City on Wednesday lynched a man for killing his brother.

It is alleged that Wilson Kamuhanda and Julius Baguma, both residents of Mukumbwe Zone have been having a conflict originating from a piece of land belonging to their late parents, which conflict has been on for a long time.

Vincent Twesige, the Police Spokesperson Rwenzori West said that on Thursday, that Baguma allegedly found Kamuhanda digging on Baguma’s side of the boundary and a fight ensued.

Baguma picked up the hoe and hit Kamuhanda on the head, killing him instantly.

According to Twesige, when the community discovered that Baguma had killed his brother, they arrested him, but he resisted and he started attacking the community members threatening to cut whoever comes close to him using the same hoe he had used to kill the brother.

This prompted the angry residents to attack Baguma. He was hit on the head using bricks and sticks, killing him instantly.

According to the Police Crime Report 2022, at least 953 people were killed in mob justice.
