The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has suspended Spark TV’s ‘Koona’ Program and its host, Miles Rwamiti until further notice.

During ‘Koona’ Program that aired on December 21, Lubaga South MP, Lubwama lost his cool and slapped Andrew Bajjo after the events promoter provoked him by saying he doesn’t know English. Honorable Kato lost it and fought live on air  before walking out in protest.

After warching the footage, UCC wrote a letter saying “These are unacceptable behaviour that infringes broadcasting standards. Broadcasters are expected to have mechanisms in place to edit out such inappropriate content. The Commission has noted this and will be dealing with the same decisively.”

On Dec 21st 2018, Spark TV aired a program ‘Koona’, where we noticed total breach of the Minimum Broadcasting Standards,breach of it’s licence terms and conditions and the law.The Program,’Koona’, producer and presenter of this show have henceforth been suspended Immediately,” a tweet from UCC reads

“Lets be mindful of this: Section 31(a) (ii) and (iv) of the Uganda Communications Act 2013 prohibits broadcasters from broadcasting any program or content that directly or indirectly promotes hatred or a culture of violence and likely to incite and/or glorify violent behaviours,” UCC continues.
