The Ministry of Health has confirmed one case in conducting rapid assessment survey among the country’s high risk groups.

The ministry is conducting the rapid assessment survey among high risk groups to establish community transmission of COVID-19.

All samples from the survey are tested at Makerere Unversity laboratory Small blue diamond according to the ministry. The one case confirmed is of a Ugandan male police officer from Masindi.

Health and police sources say he was responsible for handling suspects in cells. 5 fellow police personnel and 2 inmates have been taken into quarantine. Health officials are disinfecting the police station.

Uganda has Covid-19 confirmed cases at 85. The latest confirmed case is a 35, year, old Kenyan male truck driver who arrived via Busia border.

Officials said that their tracking system showed that he returned to Kenya.

The ministry also revealed that out of 2,454 more samples tested at Uganda Virus Institute, all 399 samples from the community tested negative for Covid-19.

To-date, 27 truck drivers have tested positive for COVID-19. Of these, 17 truck drivers have returned to their respective countries while 10 are admitted at different hospitals.

The total numbers of patients discharged from Entebbe Grade One Hospital, Mulago Hospital and Adjumani stands at 52.

Uganda has not registered any Covid-19 related death, to date.
