Uganda’s leading ride hailing company, SafeBoda, recently launched their ‘better campaign’ that speaks to the impact that SafeBoda has had in its four years of existence.

Over the weekend, the company organized a fun filled Football Gala that was graced by hundreds of SafeBodas, SafeBoda staff members and partners.

The SafeBoda Football Gala was held at Kira road’s famous football grounds, near the Kira Road Police station in Kamwokya and the company’s Co- Founder and Director, Ricky Rapa Thompson was the Chief Guest.

The gala was the first among many, and had participants divided into 4 groups. It is no surprise that the four groups are named after African cities that SafeBoda currently has or will kick off operations in, namely Kampala, Nairobi, Mombasa, Barcelona.

For what was surely a fun filled and relaxing activity, SafeBoda is leading the way on community and team building, feeding the popular adage, `work hard, play hard’

Matches were Knock-out based with 30 minutes play time, each half, and the winners  faced off in the final. SafeBoda teamed up with its partners to promote the use of their SafeBoda cashless wallet and the winning team walked away with a full tank of fuel each.

Business partners like Shell Uganda also showcased at the Gala. “Football creates an essential opportunity for us to promote positive sportsmanship values including high performance, team work and endurance. Very few platforms bring people together like football. We at SafeBoda, are excited to see our SafeBodas come together and have fun as they work. We hope the winning spirit of the Uganda Cranes at AFCON this year, continues to inspire all of us. “ Said Shakib Nsubuga, SafeBoda’s Operations Innovation Manager.

Sports is a powerful team engagement tool and can go a long way in helping to build strong communities. SafeBoda’s 10,000 riders used this opportunity to take a break, interact with each other, and learn new stuff.

The Football gala is a precursor to the SafeBoda Football League/Tournament which will be open to all in the boda industry.
