The black curtain was finally drawn over the heated 2021 presidential elections and just like most analysts had anticipated in earlier forecasts, the undisputed General of the UPDF won the race with an impressive 58%.

Just like any other candidate who lost the grip in the just concluded elections, some factors which might have facilitated Bobi Wine’s narrow loss to the son of Kaguta;

1.Lack of party structures

Despite enjoying wide spread of popularity on social media, Bobi Wine didn’t have a solid party structure on ground to conduct NUP activities and generate massive voter awareness especially in regions where his name is non existent or slightly unpopular.

2.Failure to identify with people from the West and North:

Despite garnering alot of support in the central Buganda, Bobi Wine failed to develop a strategy to win over votes in both the Western and Northern region. This partly explain why the undisputed General won by big margins in both of these regions. Failure to come up with party structures also explains why Bobi failed to win over votes in these regions.

3.Failure to have polling agents in all Polling stations;

Am not trying to insinuate that the bad man from Kamokya might have had his votes stolen by the big man but his failure to employ an insurmountable number of polling agents across the country might have caused a few anomalies along the way.

4.Short Champaign time;

This wouldn’t be reason enough  to add onto the well thought through list but the fact that Bobi Wine’s campaign calendar was often disrupted by Police arrests and endless court sessions, we thought that his time to reach out to the population was greatly hampered and hence the revolutionary message didn’t shrink deep into the masses.

5.Underestimating Museveni.

This might seem abit cynical but there is a general feeling that the people power movement actually underestimated Museveni’s strength especially in the rural areas
