Presidential Election Petition Withdrawal Freeze!

The Bobi Wine election petition withdrawal application has taken a  twist at the Supreme court after the Chief Justice -CJ Alphonso Owiny Dollo refused to take submissions from his lawyers.

CJ Justice Owiny Dollo was compelled to push the hearing to Friday, March the 5th  after citing that Bobi Wine’s lawyers were operating on expired certificates.

The NUP leader’s lead Counsel Medard Sseggona, told the court that their practicing certificates had expired on March 1st and issuance had delayed.

Counsel Ssegona requested advice from the justices on how to proceed in that matter.

In response, CJ Owiny-Dollo adjourned the scheduled hearing to tomorrow (March 5) at 9 am to give time to Bobi’s lawyers to renew their practicing certificates by 5 pm today, before the hearing can proceed.

I am giving you permission to go to the registrar to get a temporary PC that expires on the 18th of March 2021″, CJ stated.

Wine filed an application stating six reasons under which he decided to withdraw the case, these include; abduction, harassment, intimidation, and torture of his witnesses by state security operatives under the command of Museveni and the Attorney General.

He also states bias of the courts because they declined to accept his additional evidence to strengthen his election petition case against Museveni.
