Police has started investigations into an incident in Kamwokya where 2 kids were kidnapped and defiled at separate places.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says one of the defiled kids aged 8 yrs is currently hospitalized at Naguru Hospital in a critical state after she was dumped at a nearby church.
Onyango explains that the kid was lured by a neighbor into the hands of her kidnappers who defiled, strangled her and left her bleeding profusely.
Police was able to identify the neighbor with the help of Closed Circuit Cameras-CCTV that were reviewed following incident.
Onyango says the footage shows the neighbor convincing the child to follow her before handing her over to strangers.
”We have arrested the woman on charges of procuring aggravated defilement, she is the one who took the child and handed her to the criminals who defiled and also attempted to kill her. Currently, we are still hunting for them, Onyango said”
Another incident happened on March 14, 2021, when a 6-year-old girl was also abducted, defiled, and dumped along Rotary Avenue, also known as Lugogo Bypass, ‘in a terrible state,’ according to Kakooza.
She was subsequently taken to Naguru Hospital and later referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital.
Onyango is optimistic that the lone suspect in custody now will lead the police to other criminals in what appears to be a syndicate.
