Speaker and MPs have demanded from the US Mission on the construction of a perimeter wall up to the road reserve from Nsambya to Kabalagala.
Speaker Anitah Among has asked the prime minister to follow up the matter raised by Elijah Okupa, Kasilo County MP during Plenary sitting on Thursday afternoon.
Speaker (deputy) Among ordered: “We need an action on that issue of the road. The people with disabilities are really suffering within that area. Cars cannot even bypass each other. I mean the law is the law. Nobody is above the law: @AnitahAmong, Deputy Speaker.”
Okupa demanded an explanation from the Prime Minister on why the government allowed the @usmissionuganda to build a perimeter wall up to the road reserve from Nsambya to Kàbalagala.
He told the house chaired by deputy speaker Among that the Persons with Disabilities cannot move and the construction is a major cause of Jam.
The 3rd Prime Minister and minister without Portfolio, Lukia Nakadama promised to consult and make a follow up on the matter and report back to Parliament.
MPs also debated on a motion to thank President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the clear and precise exposition of government policy contained in Address on the State of the Nation to Parliament on Friday 4th June, 2021.
Dicksons C Kateshumbwa, MP Sheema Municipality hailed: “I rise to support the motion and to commend the President for the elaborate speech that he gave during the #SoNA. I would like to appreciate the efforts of gov’t that has seen an increase in the number of industries in Uganda and are employing a lot of our people.”
Kateshumbwa added: “It is have been denied market, over the last one year. This has affected out farmers and out revenue and we have seen out exports in the region, decline. I would like to ask our gov’t to, that we need to have strong negotiators. That will be able to stand with #EAC treaty & discuss with our neighbours, so that we have free trade in the region. So that as we go into production we produce with the markets.”
