5 teachers arrested

Police at Kakiri have arrested the headteacher of Fremah Nursery and Primary School located in Kikubampanga Village in Kakiri Town Council for operating illegally.

Namutebi Maria Matilda, 41, the headteacher was arrested alongside four teachers after the police found 146 children from different classes studying normally despite the lockdown on schools.

5 teachers arrested

The school had distributed the learners aged between 9 to 14 years in 4 classrooms representing different classes.

The operation was conducted at the school premises, by officers attached to Kakiri police post after a tip-off from concerned locals.

Deputy spokesperson Kampala metropolitan Police Asp Luke Owoyesigyire says they will be charged with doing an act likely to cause an infection of disease.

He says that they have informed the parents to pick their children as investigations into the allegations continue.

The suspects in Police custody include; Namutebi Maria Matilda, 41, the headteacher, Nakaweesi Cissy, 20, Adoto Florence, 28, Namakula Rebecca, 34, Nayiga Christine 20, all teachers at the school.
