Man kills lover

Police in Busoga East have mounted a search for Moses Mukisi, a resident of Muterere East village, in Muterere sub county, Bugiri district, for allegedly strangling his wife to death.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Rose Naigaga.

The deceased’s body was taken to Bugiri General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Naigaga’s body was retrieved after her children notified neighbours that Mukisi had locked their mother in the bedroom on Sunday night and fled. The concerned residents forcefully opened the couple’s bedroom, only to find Naigaga’s body lying on the floor.

It is reported that the couple had been engaged in a misunderstanding over infidelity claims, which is suspected to have sparked off their fight.

The couple’s oldest daughter, aged 10 years, whose name has been withheld, says her parents engaged in a fierce fight at around midnight, but their father fled the house at about 6:00 am.

Robinah Nabwiire, a relative of the deceased, says that the couple was engaged in episodes of domestic violence throughout their marital life. This prompted family members to intervene seeking reconciliation, however, their fights continued to thrive.

Meanwhile, Busoga East police spokesperson, Diana Nandawula says that preliminary findings indicate that Mukisi killed Naigaga by strangulation before fleeing into hiding.

Nandawula adds that efforts are underway to hunt for Mukisi and bring him to book. She advised married couples to devise means of living harmoniously rather than opting for domestic fights, which are life-threatening and can result into death.
